PLANNING YOUR PRIVATE TRAVEL TO IRELAND
When traveling with Roam Travel Company, each and every itinerary is crafted around our clients’ travel wish lists and preferences. With no two trips the same, we reach perfection when it comes to custom travel planning to Ireland. In fact, we have lived there.
Trip lengths vary when visiting Ireland, but it would take 8-14 days in the country to get a well-rounded experience of the destination. Of course, both shorter and longer trips can be created based on your needs and interests.
Dublin, Ireland’s biggest city, offers a quaint experience compared to many of Europe’s capital cities. A couple of nights in Dublin, to stroll around town and dine, pairs decadently with Killarney and Galway. The lively town of Killarney is the perfect starting point to see some of Ireland’s most stunning coast line. And Galway, Ireland’s medieval city to the west, is a great home base to visit the Burren, Cliffs of Moher and iconic Connemara. Not to mention all there is to see between points.
Castles are abundant in Ireland and including the right castle hotel into your stay adds the perfect touch of luxury. Traditional Irish hospitality is sure to be included.
Northern Ireland offers plenty of sites and natural wonders as well, from the famous Giant’s Causeway to the Titanic Museum in Belfast. Northern Ireland is also home to much of Ireland’s more recent history, shedding light on the progress of the nation. For the adventurous traveler, we may consider an inn to inn experience — where you and your travel companion(s) hike from one small Irish town to another. Of course, your luggage is transported for you. The true trick of a good Ireland itinerary is choosing which small towns to include, from Dingle to Wicklow, from Doolin to Adare.
What to expect
Due to the size of the country, most travel is done overland. Most private travel to Ireland includes accompaniment of a driver-guide to escort you around the country, although private transfers and local guides can also be arranged. With so many stops and sights en route, the right guide is essential to a true luxury, private experience in Ireland.
Ireland can be visited year round and for many different reasons, but weather is most moderate and enjoyable during summer. With that said, Ireland is known to experience “all four seasons” in a single day, so there is always a chance for rain, wind and sunshine.
When traveling to Ireland, you must have a valid passport with at least one blank page. Visas are not required for visits lasting less than 90 days. More visa information can be found here.
