What to expect: Your typical day on safari will include a morning and evening activity with an afternoon at leisure. On a luxury trip to Botswana, meals and beverages are included in your stay and the you can expect phenomenal dining experiences. Botswana is famous for its water-based game viewing when the Okavango Delta is flooded. Depending on your camp, you may be able to experience a mokoro (authentic canoe) ride and motorized boat rides to complement your game drives and bush walks. Transfers from camp to camp are done by light aircraft, making for a logistically seamless adventure.
Seasonality: Botswana can be visited year round and when to visit depends highly on your interests. The best time for game viewing is during the dry season between June to October, when the floodwaters are in the Okavango Delta. As the waterholes diminish, the animals congregate around the remaining supply and the density of animals is extremely high. Plus, with the plant-life drying up, there is better visibility when spotting animals through the brush. The further toward October, the better the game viewing, but you are also experiencing the hottest weather of the year.
November through March is considered the green season, offering fantastic photographic opportunities, newborn wildlife and some of the best birding in the world. This is also the most fantastic time to visit the Central Kalahari.
